Why Train with the Gi (Uniform) in grappling arts? Here is a short article from some of the benefits to training with the gi (uniform) in grappling arts such as jujitsu or Judo.
Chess and Checkers This is quite logical that when you add to gi grappling match, he will add more possibilities, because it is a more complex game. Akan easier for a good chess player to join in a game of checkers in the other way around.
Make Big Fighters More Technical In my teaching experience, there is no better way to take someone's physical attributes rather than placing him in a gi. Without a gi, the greater the power they can use more and faster opponents, more than their speed. Any corner of the art is to use techniques and skills more than strength, using the gi, which will help develop skills.
You can always take off I have seen the submission grapplers and wrestlers with ten or more years of experience get clogged by people with half-time at the gi they see as if you just put them in a straight jacket. You may grappler great when you're naked, but do not wear clothes on the road! When you train with the gi (true), that's just a matter of some adjustment grip to fight without it. If you do not practice enough with the gi ... you're the guy checkers.
Military and Law Enforcement Unless you are patrolling the beach (in this case, you have a job and sweet to complain about anything), you will wear the opponent. I have heard many reports from the Military I train personnel who said they favor with good training and make use of collar gi chokes. In fact the core of the Modern Army Manual is based on Brazilian jujitsu and often train their soldiers in BDUs.
It gets cold For us who live in places that get cold now and then, you'll be wearing something that resembles a gi for most of the year. Even if you are in hot weather, you will most likely be wearing some type of pants or shorts and t-shirt that one can take to the opponent. Gi which is great for training because it will not rip like t-shirt.
Training well and without gi is important for anyone who practices any type of grappling arts. Make it at least 50% of practice and you will be better for it.
